Water View Independence Day Celebration has grown considerably since its humble start in 1985
imageSlideshow: The Upper Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department and Auxiliary will host their 25th anniversary Independence Day Celebration this Saturday, June 26, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Water View Firehouse on Route 640. While still a very rural area, the community of Water View has seen its Independence Day Celebration continue to grow year after year.

House is now gone, but memories still vivid
imageFor 87 years the Hodges family house had stood as a landmark at the intersection of Routes 615 and 616 between Urbanna and Saluda. But the old house had deteriorated badly over the past 17 years and, for safety reasons, family members decided to tear it down earlier this year on April 8.

Betty Cook is Water View parade grand marshal

‘The Reapers’ to perform at St. Clare Walker

If so, or even if you are too young to remember this thrilling age of pop music, you need to attend the “Cyrus McCormick and the Reapers” concert in the St. Clare Walker Middle School auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 26. The concert is sponsored by the Middlesex Public Library.
