Crowning of Oyster Festival Queen set for Nov. 5
imageThe Queen competition starts early in the summer and extends until the crowning takes place on Friday of the Oyster Festival. The crowning of the Queen at the upcoming 53rd Urbanna Oyster Festival will take place on Friday, November 5, at 4 p.m. at Taber Park on Rappahannock Avenue.

Boy Scout troops participate in survival event
imageBoy Scouts from Troops 341 (Saluda) and 304 (Tappahannock) recently participated in a weekend event to test survival skills. Four patrols competed for time and points awards. The Scouts used compasses to orient to stations where their skills were tested.

Dr. David Nichols receives Hobart College award
In light of his outstanding dedication to others, Dr. David Nichols was honored this week with the Hobart and William Smith (HWS) Community Service Award.
