Parks to unveil new book with Essex Library Friends
Award-winning mystery author Brad Parks will celebrate the premier of his latest novel, “The Girl Next Door,” with the Friends of the Essex Public Library at Hobbs Hole Restaurant in Tappahannock on March 13—the first day the book will be available to the general public.

Volunteer social is Friday at Deltaville Museum
imageVolunteering at the museum and park does not have to be an everyday or even every-week thing. If you are interested in being a museum docent, meeting and greeting visitors from all around the country and showing off the history and exhibits of the area’s maritime traditions, you can help out once a week, once a month or whenever your schedule allows.

‘Women in Islam’ to be course topic
imageA course on “Women in Islam,” sponsored by the Rappahannock Community College Educational Foundation’s Rappahannock Institute for Lifelong Learning (RILL), will be taught by Diana Obeid on March 16, 23, and 30 (Fridays) from 2-4 p.m. at RCC’s Glenns Campus (Room 158).

James Kinner: A Middlesex pioneer in religion and education
imageJames Conway and Otelia Arugunes of Gloucester County have deep roots in Middlesex County. Their most famous Middlesex relative was their maternal great-grandfather, Rev. James Kinner, who was a pioneer in bringing religion and education to former slaves of Middlesex.
