Queen contestant raises funds for Taber Park, oyster restoration
imageUrbanna Oyster Festival Queen contestant Emily Moore, a senior at Christchurch School, held an “Around Town Scavenger Hunt” in Urbanna to raise money to beautify Taber Park and improve the town playground. Portions of the profits and all of the recycling products collected during her event went to benefit Cans for Oysters.

T-Bird Club to visit Deltaville Farmers’ Market Sat.
I was 11 years old the first time I ever saw a Thunderbird. I remember it like it was yesterday. One of the teachers at Richmond’s Tuckahoe Elementary drove up in one. Wowsers! It was a magnet. All of us kids at recess were hovering. The car was like nothing we had ever seen before.

Hight to speak on county history at museum meeting
Bill Hight will be the featured speaker for the Middlesex County Museum & Historical Society’s annual meeting on Sunday, October 23, at 2 p.m. at the Historic Courthouse in Saluda. “Mr. Hight has a rich appreciation of our county and its citizens,” said a museum spokesperson.

Oyster Festival Queen contestant helps autistic child
imageFor her community service project, Urbanna Oyster Festival Queen contestant Lara Lucas gave horseback riding lessons for 4 weeks to five different students to raise money for an autistic child at Middlesex Elementary School. The money will allow the child to receive riding lessons at Dream Catchers Therapeutic Riding Center.
