In 1944, Morgan, a 27-year-old African-American, refused to give up her bus seat to a white couple and was arrested in Saluda. Her court case resulted in the U.S. Supreme Court overturning segregation on interstate public transportation in 1946.
Concerts By The Bay to feature pianist Sunday
The Virginia Commission for the Arts and Concerts By The Bay will present pianist Lynne Mackey in concert at 3 p.m. this Sunday, February 27, at Mathews High School, 9889 Buckley Hall Road, Route 198, Mathews.
Maritime Museum begins outside bathroom project
The Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park have broken ground for the construction of two outside handicapped-accessible bathrooms for use by visitors during events and day-time hours when the museum is closed. The project is part of a multi-phased improvements list for 2011.
