Shane Cooley concert to benefit Zoar Church rebuilding effort
Shane Cooley will hold a benefit concert for Zoar Baptist Church from 7-9 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, at Deltaville Ballpark. There will be no admission fee. A love offering will be taken during the concert. The concert will take place rain or shine since the audience and performer will be covered.
Giving victims a voice for justice
The Middlesex County Victim Witness Program empowers victims of crime, guides them through the court system, and helps them recover from their trauma. The program uses a process designed to prevent victims from being a victim again, and helps them avoid decisions that are short-sighted and often result in long-term consequences.
Best in Show at Art on the Half Shell
Accomack artist Richard Toft won Best in Show at last Saturday’s Art on the Half Shell festival in Urbanna with his egg tempera painting “Moonstruck.” Above, show judge Dr. Robert Metzger of Reading, Pa., and artists’ coordinator Pat Hunt of Myrtle Beach, S.C., present Toft with his ribbon and $500 cash prize.
In concert Saturday in Urbanna
The “Trongone Band” (above) will be in concert at 7 p.m. this Saturday, May 21, at Taber Park in Urbanna as part of the Urbanna Business Association and Town of Urbanna’s “Music Under the Stars” summer concert series.
