‘Great Skiff Race’ is Saturday at Maritime Museum
The Family Boatbuilding Week “Great Skiff Race” stage is set. This Saturday, July 16, at 10 a.m., on the maritime park’s waterfront, these newly-built craft will meet their first challenge as they begin the 9th annual “Great Skiff Race,” a tongue-in-cheek, splash-filled race for Family Boatbuilding Week (FBW) “braggin’ rights.”
HVFD Pig Pickin’ is Saturday
The Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual Pig Pickin’ from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, at Grey’s Point Campground in Topping. Everyone is invited to attend. The menu consists of barbecue, cole slaw, baked beans, hot dogs, cold drinks and homemade desserts. There also will be a family carnival.
Renaissance Festival is July 16-17 in Gloucester
The Gloucester Renaissance Festival is Saturday, July 16, and Sunday July 17. The event sponsored by Gloucester County Parks, Recreation and Tourism, will be at the historic courthouse circle at 6509 Main St. from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and admission is free.
Are barking dogs a part of country life?
On June 21 the Middlesex County Board of Supervisors tabled action on adding verbiage to include “domestic animal noises” in the county’s animal nuisance ordinance. The issue surfaced after Middlesex General District Court Judge Jeffrey W. Shaw dismissed charges that involved barking dogs.
