Secretary of Public Safety visits Oyster Festival
imageVirginia Secretary of Public Safety Marla Decker paid a visit to the Urbanna Oyster Festival this year to meet with officials and emergency personnel working the event. Middlesex Sheriff David Bushey met Secretary Decker upon her arrival and gave her a tour of the Oyster Festival command center and the festival itself.

‘F.D. Crockett’ open for tours at Oyster Festival
imageThe classic log-hulled buyboat “F.D. Crockett” will be on display and available for tours this weekend at the 55th annual Urbanna Oyster Festival. The 63-foot, 88-year-old, nine-log bottom buyboat is one of only three log-hulled buyboats still floating.

‘ABC’s from the Rappahannock’ book signing due at Oyster Festival
imageAuthor Betty Lewis Ellett will sign her book, “ABC’s from the Rappahannock River, With Love,” during both days of the Urbanna Oyster Festival. A long-time educator, Ellett is an artist, photographer and family literary specialist.

‘A story of love and trust’
imageMinnie Kirby Burch of Water View loves animals! It was September 16, 2010 that a squirrel nest fell from a tree and one of the babies landed in Minnie’s heart. Minnie took the little squirrel into her life and allowed it to live in her home. From their experiences together Minnie wrote and published a new children’s book.
