The 53rd Urbanna Oyster Festival set for Nov. 5-6
The 53rd annual Urbanna Oyster Festival is set for Friday and Saturday, November 5-6, and once again good times and a variety of delicious food and lively music are planned for the tens of thousands of expected visitors. The tall ship “Godspeed” will arrive at the Urbanna waterfront on Thursday, Nov. 4, and be open for tours on Friday and Saturday of the festival.
‘Scary Halloween’ set for Saturday at Holly Point
One of Middlesex County’s favorite and scariest Halloween events, “Scary Halloween in the Park,” will be held this Saturday, October 30, from 6-8:30 p.m. on the 36-acre grounds of the Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park in Deltaville. There will be plenty of parking for everyone. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
‘F.D. Crockett’ and ‘Lillian B.’ are on the move
All fans of the Deltaville Maritime Museum and its classic workboat fleet are invited to come to the museum’s Pierwalk on both Friday and Saturday, October 29-30, for two bon voyage gatherings. The classic, restored Chesapeake Bay buyboat “F.D. Crockett” will get under way at 1 p.m. on Friday and the classic Maryland dory “Lillian B.” will leave the dock at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Whale sighted in the Chesapeake Bay
Bryan, Terri and Jonathan Flagg of Deltaville and Ashland were on their boat in the Rappahannock River on Sunday, October 10 when they spotted a whale in the Chesapeake Bay near Windmill Point. Jonathan took photos of the whale with his blackberry camera.
