MPIP 2nd Annual fishing trip is set for August 21st
The Middlesex Partners in Progress (MPIP) will hold their 2nd annual fishing trip for Middlesex County youth and their families on August 21, 2011. This year 20 kids will fish on the Rappahannock River, learn about the indigenous river life, be treated to lunch, and take a tour of the museum.
Delta Jam benefit concert, family night set for Friday in Deltaville
Delta Jam, a benefit concert and family night, will be held Friday, August 12, from 6-10 p.m. at Lower Middlesex Fire Department in Deltaville. The event promises to be a great evening for all with a concert lineup to include Sarah Williams of Gloucester who currently sings professionally in Nashville, Tenn., “Jumbo Lump Daddy & the Backfin Boys,” and “Sweet Justice.”
Buyboats coming to Urbanna
The annual Chesapeake Bay Buyboat Homecoming will continue in Urbanna on Friday, August 12, and Saturday, August 13. The fleet will arrive in Urbanna on Thursday, August 11, at the Urbanna Town Marina. The buyboats will be open to the public on Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Hearing on proposed Athletic Complex is Tuesday
The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, August 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the Historic Courthouse in Saluda to discuss the proposed Syd Thrift Athletic Complex at Middlesex High School. The total cost of the project is estimated at $3.5 million.
