‘Crockett’ continues cruises in outreach effort
On September 9-10, Crockett participated in the Antique and Classic Boat Gathering presented by the Tidewater Chapter of the Antique & Classic Boat Society in conjunction with the Reedville Fisherman’s Museum in Reedville. Docked at Butler’s Marina, the Crockett gave continuous tours to the folks. She also participated in the classic boat parade on Saturday.
Oct. 23 oyster tasting to benefit Jacob’s Ladder
Rappahannock River Oysters LLC will host an “oyster tasting” to benefit Jacob’s Ladder on Sunday, October 23, from 3-5 p.m. at Locklies Marina (rain or shine). Guests will have the opportunity to taste Rappahannocks, Olde Salts, and Stingrays—three native oysters re-introduced into the Chesapeake Bay by Ryan and Travis Croxton, owners of Rappahannock River Oysters.
‘Gary Pavilion’ to be dedicated Sunday
Already a popular addition to the park’s facilities, the picturesque pavilion will be dedicated to longtime Deltaville resident Robert A. Gary III of Deltaville, who was a dedicated supporter of the museum and its activities. The dedication is open to all friends of the Gary family and museum.
Holly Point Art & Seafood Festival is this Saturday
The 8th annual Holly Point Art & Seafood Festival
fires up this Saturday, October 8, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. There will be over 70 artists of all varieties, an array of seafood and other food, car show, pirates, exhibits, boat rides on Jackson Creek, and some new surprises.
Admission to the festival is free.
Queen contestant helps feed hungry youngsters
For her community service project, Jessica Dixon of Jamaica, a senior at Middlesex High School, worked with the Backpack Buddy Club of Middlesex County. The club provides food to underprivileged children who receive free or reduced lunch and breakfast at school and to children whose families are facing a temporary crisis.
