Foundation awards a record $110,000 in grants & scholarships
imageThe River Counties Community Foundation (RCCF) celebrated its many successes at its annual grants reception held recently at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury in Irvington. After board vice chair Ron Mihills welcomed guests and introduced advisory board members, affiliate director Margaret Nost highlighted the foundation’s accomplishments.

Crab Feast is Saturday at Deltaville Firehouse
The Lower Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department Crab Feast will be held at the Deltaville Firehouse on Saturday, August 4. Featured will be all-you-can-eat steamed crabs, hamburgers, hot dogs and corn-on-the-cob from 5-8 p.m. Music by “Round Midnight” will be from 8 p.m.-midnight.

Benefit ‘Swim Night’ is Saturday at Urbanna Pool
Urbanna Oyster Festival Queen contestant Rachel Crews and her Little Miss Spat contestant Skylar Andersen will host a “Swim Night” Saturday, August 4, at the Urbanna Pool from 7 to 10 p.m. to raise money for the Middlesex Animal Shelter.

F.D. Crocket Hits the Roads for Maritime Museum
In the wake of the devastating fire that destroyed the Maritime Museum and John’s Events Pavilion at the 30+ acre Holly Point Nature Park, the F. D. Crockett, the Museum’s beautifully restored log-hulled buyboat, will leave Deltaville Wednesday to take the message baywide that Museum’s mission will continue.
