RCCF awards grants totaling $45,000
Grants Committee chairman Leland James noted RCCF’s ability in 2009 to increase the amount of grant money awarded from last year, despite the tough economic climate. Letters of intent were received from more than 50 worthy organizations and 17 selected grant recipients received over $45,000.
Signup deadline is Friday for ‘storm tides’ workshop
On Thursday, July 30, researchers from Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) will host a workshop to help residents understand the factors that impact storm tide risk in their communities. Renowned gardener, plant curator and author Lawrence Griffith will present a talk and sign his book, “Flowers and Herbs of North America,” at 3 p.m. this Saturday, July 18, at the Middlesex Woman’s Club building on Virginia Street. There is no admission charge and the public is invited.
