On the second Saturday of each month through October from 1 to 4 p.m., the public will have the opportunity to visit local sites not usually open to the public, and some sites many do not know about.
‘Serenity’ offers cruises from homeport Urbanna
Under full sail, the schooner “Serenity” arrived at Urbanna Harbor, her new home port, on July 15. The Town of Urbanna and the 65-foot schooner have partnered to bring a unique sailing experience to the area.
Musician to entertain kids Friday at the YMCA
At 2 p.m. this Friday, July 31, at 2 p.m. the Middlesex Public Library will sponsor a special program at the Middlesex YMCA at Hartfield. Gary Archer will perform "Sing Along Songs" and children can join the fun. All children and parents are invited to attend. There is no charge.
History comes alive this Fri & Sat in Urbanna
For centuries, Urbanna Creek has been visited by all types of vessels that have come from all around the world. One of the most unique vessels to visit the creek regularly from 1910 to 1980 was the Chesapeake Bay buyboat. In the heyday of the Rappahannock River oyster fishery, Urbanna had three oyster shucking houses along its shores and over 100,000 bushels of oysters were shucked there each year.
Keith to perform Saturday in Deltaville
Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park’s popular music series Groovin’ in the Park continues with well-known musician Steve Keith this Saturday, August 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. With many local performances at Donk’s Theater and the Sandpiper Reef in Mathews, the Mooring in Kinsale, Urbanna and other localities, Keith has a loyal following of area fans.
