Restored ‘F.D. Crockett’ makes maiden voyage
In September, 2005, a derelict hulk of a buyboat was towed to the Deltaville Maritime Museum. Old shirts and greasy rags had been stuffed between the leaky planks of “F.D. Crockett.” The 1924 vintage boat was barely floating, but her graceful lines were still visible in the decaying wood. Thus began a 4-plus-year restoration of F.D. Crockett.
‘Broken Consort’ in concert Sunday at UBC
Berthelle Denton and “Broken Consort” will be in concert Sunday, April 11, at 4 p.m., at Urbanna Baptist Church, and Sunday, April 18, at 4 p.m. at Northumberland High School.
Sentinel staff wins 13 VPA awards
Members of the Southside Sentinel staff won 13 awards, including six first-place honors, in the 2009 news contest sponsored by the Virginia Press Association. Ten of the awards were presented to the Sentinel and three went to The Rivah Visitor’s Guide, jointly produced by the Sentinel and the Rappahannock Record in Kilmarnock.
‘Meet Our Local Artists’ set for Friday, Saturday
A “Meet Our Local Artists” reception and art show will take place from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, April 9, and from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, in the Taylor Building on Cross Street in Urbanna. The public is invited.
