An old superstition handed down from my grandmother was that the tails of cats attract lightning. My mother would put the cats outside when it was thundering and lightning and make us sit away from open doorways. Just to be on the safe side, I always get away from the cat when there is a storm.
Parks to discuss third novel at two events
Award-winning mystery author Brad Parks will conclude the national tour for his recently released novel, “The Girl Next Door,” with a pair of events close to home. On Friday, May 4, he will be the featured speaker at a wine and cheese reception hosted by the Friends of the Rappahannock Community College Library Center.

The Deltaville Library and the Friends of Deltaville Library are excited and pleased to host writer Reeve Lindbergh, the youngest daughter of Charles and Anne Morrow Lindbergh, at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22. May 22 is the 85th anniversary of the day her father became the most celebrated man in the world.
Relay for Life due May 4-5
The Middlesex Relay For Life celebration will be held Friday and Saturday, May 4-5, at Christchurch School. The schedule of events is as follows. Throughout the evening there will be many activities for children.
