Parks hits ‘trifecta’ of crime fiction authors

Brad Parks, who had previously won the Shamus Award and the Nero Award, became the first writer in the combined 82-year history of those prestigious crime fiction honors to win all three.

Belle Isle offers children’s events during spring break
Belle Isle State Park in Lancaster County will host several children’s events from Tuesday, April 2, through Saturday, April 6. On Tuesday, April 2, “Web Side Story” will be presented. It will include information about spiders and crafts, and includes a short hike to look for spiders and other insects.

Mr. Charger Contest is rescheduled
The Mr. Charger Contest returns to Middlesex High School in Saluda at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, in the MHS auditorium. It was originally set for Wednesday, March 27, but had to rescheduled due to unforeseen circumstances.

Daffodil Show set for this week in Gloucester
The Garden Club of Virginia will present the 79th annual Daffodil Show on Wednesday and Thursday, March 27-28, at Ware Academy, 7936 John Clayton Memorial Hwy., Gloucester. The theme of the show is "Springtime Along the Bay."
