‘Special Needs Trusts’ to be program topic
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Mid-Tidewater Chapter, is sponsoring a presentation on “Special Needs Trusts” on Monday, April 15, at 7 p.m. at Urbanna Baptist Church.
A representative of Commonwealth Community Trust, a nonprofit organization, will speak about the importance of Special Needs Trusts for individuals with a mental illness or other disability. These trusts are established by family members or friends who want to assure that the money they leave to their loved ones is managed and distributed in a manner that will provide for long-term care and benefits that are not provided through public assistance programs.
For clients who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and/or Medicaid, the trusts will not jeopardize government benefits.
Fees and other information will be shared at the meeting. If you plan to attend, please RSVP by leaving a message on or at 804-684-1480.
