Record number of children attend VBS at St. Andrews
A record 81 children attended this summer’s Vacation Bible School at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Kilmarnock.
The children performed a song with hand motions at their closing “graduation” ceremony on July 25 in the church’s sanctuary.
The children’s parents, grandparents and other relatives packed the sanctuary for the performance, then all adjourned to the church’s fellowship hall for an ice cream social.
The St. Andrews congregation was joined by neighboring Living Water Lutheran Church for this year’s annual program. The theme was “Power Lab-Discovering Jesus’ Miraculous Power,” with classes for 3-year-olds through rising sixth-graders.
“We are very grateful that so many children attended this year’s Vacation Bible School,” said Jeannie Kling, VBS administrative director and moderator of the Youth Education Committee at St. Andrews. “The program was a powerful and fun way for the children to learn about Jesus as they develop their understanding of faith and its importance in their lives.”
