Philippi Christian Church welcomes new pastor
Rev. June E. Haislip is the new pastor at Philippi Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Deltaville (philippichristianchurch.com).
Rev. Haislip is a native of eastern North Carolina. She has been a part of the Christian Church her entire life. She was graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C., with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Following two years of teaching, she attended Lexington Theological Seminary as a recipient of the Bear Grass Honors Fellowship, which is awarded annually by the Bear Grass Christian Church in Louisville, Ky.
Rev. Haislip has served congregations in four regions as associate minister and as pastor. She has been active in summer camps and conferences, and has held elective offices in district, area and regional organizations. She has served two terms as president of the Central District of the Christian Church in North Carolina.
Rev. Haislip holds a special interest in Christian unity as indicated by simultaneously serving as president of the Owensboro (Ky.) Ministerial Association and the Daviess County (Ky.) chapter of Church Women United.
Her other interests include service as volunteer chaplain to the Skilled Nursing Wing of a local hospital. She enjoys writing and has been published in “Alive Now! Magazine,” which is published by Upper Room Press, and “South of the Garden,” a publication of the resource center for Women and Ministry in the South. She enjoys her “senior citizen” Corgi/Bassett dog and maintains close ties with her extended family.
