| Pictured above are former Zoar Baptist Church ministers and other Baptist ministers with ties to Zoar. From left are Rev. Jerry Haywood (2006-2008), Rev. Edward Harrow Sr. (ordained at Zoar in 1988), Rev. Bill Thompson (1961-1963), Dr. John Upton and Rev. Mark Johnson (1991-2000). Missing from the above photo is Rev. Ray Baker who served from 1953-1957 and played the offertory. Rev. James Ware (1958-1960) also had driven from Florida to be at the event, but then became ill and was unable to attend. |
Following a sit-down lunch, the congregation reconvened in the sanctuary for more music and a message from Dr. John Upton, executive director of Virginia Baptist Mission Board, formerly of Urbanna Baptist Church. Dr. Upton presented to Walter A. Harrow Jr. a plaque commemorating Zoar’s history and the role it has played in the history of Virginia Baptists.
