New pastor joins Urbanna Baptist Church
The Rev. Jonathan H. Davis, a native of Texas, arrived last week to begin serving as the full-time pastor at Urbanna Baptist Church.
Rev. Davis, 31, had served as associate pastor at Wildewood Baptist Church in Spring, Texas, since May 2012.
He received his master of divinity degree from the Baptist Theological Seminary in Richmond in 2009 and later served as a minister to youth in three other churches in Texas.
While attending the seminary in Richmond he became Pastor of Youth and Families at Sandston Baptist Church, and also began serving as a consultant and ministry associate with Xtreme International in Mechanicsville, which sponsors youth camps, mission trips and retreats.
Rev. Davis received his undergraduate degree at Howard Payne University and attended the Sarah Kelly School of Music in The Woodlands, Texas, where he was mentored by Grammy nominee Sarah Kelly. He has self-released two CDs and has auditioned for the American Idol TV show.
Rev. Davis also has experience with web development, social media and graphic design. He was on the “Recommended List of Youth Communicators” for the Baptist General Association of Texas.
Jonathan and his wife, Audrey, have a 20-month old son, Eli, and are expecting another child in February. They are residing in the church parsonage. Mrs. Davis also holds a master of divinity degree from the seminary in Richmond.
Rev. Davis succeeds Rev. Ed Inabinet, who has served as interim pastor at Urbanna Baptist for the past year. Rev. Jimmy Maroney retired as the previous full-time pastor in December 2012.
