New Hope to celebrate 80th year Sunday
Homecoming will be at New Hope Memorial Baptist Church in Shacklefords on Sunday, August 23, in celebration of the church’s 80th anniversary.
The morning worship service at 11 a.m. will begin the revival, conducted by Rev. Edward Harrow. Lunch will follow this service. Services will be held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, beginning at 7 p.m. each evening.
New Hope Memorial Church was established in 1929 as an interdenominational church, having previously been a part of New Hope Methodist Church, which at that time moved to Route 33.
Each Sunday, Sunday school begins at 10 a.m., followed by the worship service at 11 a.m. On Wednesdays at 7 p.m., there are Bible study and choir practice. The Women’s Missionary Union meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m.
“Our church has a rich history, each member and person attending over the years being an important part of that history. You are invited to join us and become a part of our history,” said a church spokesperson.
