NAMI Support Group to meet Friday in Gloucester
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Mid-Tidewater affiliate, will start a “Connection” support group for adults living with mental illness beginning Friday, July 5. Meetings will be held on the first and third Friday of each month from noon-1:30 p.m. in the Gloucester Library at 6920 Main Street.
NAMI Connection offers a safe, relaxed, and supportive environment where adults living with mental illness, regardless of the diagnosis, can share, listen and learn about the challenges and successes of coping with mental illness. Each meeting is free and lasts for 90 minutes.
“More than anything, this program is about hope and recovery. It provides encouragement, insight, and self-help skills,” said Sandra Mottesheard, president of NAMI Mid-Tidewater. “People with mental illness can and do successfully achieve recovery.”
