Mt. Zion Baptist plans anniversary celebration

The Mt. Zion Baptist Church Family of Church View will celebrate its anniversary starting on Saturday, April 7, at 4 p.m. with a banquet at the Van De Boogard Hall in West Point. The musical guest will be the Mt. Zion Mass Choir, “Total Praise,” and the “Community Celebration Choir” under the direction of Leon Harris and Laymetha Reed-Guy.

“We have truly been blessed and we would like to bless others,” said an event spokesperson. “The event on this day is free to all that would like to come and celebrate with us on this day. The only requirement is to call one of the following persons and give your name or any names of persons that would desire to come.”

Contact Penny Reed at 758-1249 or Cynthia Reede-Fisher at 384-7554.

The celebration will continue on Sunday, April 8, at 11 a.m at Mt. Zion with Rev. Arthur K. Roane and his church family. The musical guest will be the Mt. Zion Mass Choir. There also will be a commemorative anniversary booklet to have for years to come. The deadline for the banquet is March 26 and the deadline for ads in the booklet is March 22.

“God has brought us 150 years and we are still pressing forward! This is why we chose for our theme ‘Christ is the same Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow’ (Hebrews 13:8),” said the spokesperson.
