Memorial service set at New Mt. Zion Baptist Church
The public is invited to worship and fellowship at New Mount Zion Baptist Church in Walkerton on Sunday, May 30, at 4 p.m. for the church’s 140th Anniversary Memorial Day Service.
The church will commemorate the 24 founders who succeeded from Bruington Baptist Church in 1870 to establish New Mount Zion Baptist Church at Butler’s Tavern. Deceased veterans and church members interred in the church cemetery will be remembered.
Rev. Dr. John T. Boyd Jr., associate minister of Gethsemane Baptist Church in King William, will deliver the memorial service message. Music will be rendered by the male chorus from Rising Mount Zion Baptist Church of Richmond.
New Mount Zion Baptist Church is at 3110 Rosemount Road in Walkerton.
