Memorial Day celebration planned at Lower Methodist
The public is invited to Lower United Methodist Church in Hartfield on Sunday, May 25, for a grand Memorial Day celebration. This special program will take place during the 11 a.m. service.
“Come as we salute our troops with patriotic music and a powerful message from Brig. Gen. (retired) Robert Morris,” said LUMC pastor Rev. Dr. Barry Burkholder.
Morris is a retired National Guard chaplain and a member of LUMC.
LCDR Justin K. Whitt and members of the Gloucester High School Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps will provide the color guard. Nick Magnani will provide special music on the bagpipes, and Thomas Gillie will be the bugler.
Military personnel are encouraged to wear their uniforms and/or hat and medals.
“Please join us in saying ‘thank you’ to all the men and women who have served our great nation, especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice,” said Rev. Burkholder.
