Lower United Methodist offers Respite Care Program

Do you know any caregiver who needs time off to recharge and renew but are tied to ongoing responsibilities toward someone they love? Caregivers give so much that sometimes they can’t find time for themselves.

The Respite Care Program at Lower United Methodist Church in Hartfield wants to offer “time for renewal” to any caregiver in Middlesex County, not only those with dementia patients. “We are looking for more people who need time off and are willing to bring their loved ones to Lower UMC where they will be loved and cared for every Tuesday from noon to 4 p.m.,” said a program spokesperson.

“We are also in need for volunteers, men and women, who are willing to offer four hours of their time, once a month to bring joy and love to others. This special program allows the volunteers to use their skills in baking, singing, decorating, building, playing and many other activities that bring a smile to the faces of those we care for,” said the spokesperson.

The Lower Church Respite Care Program is about willingly spending time caring for someone’s loved one so they can take time to renew and relax. The contact person is Mary Lou Hollingshead at 703-304-6609.
