Lower Church prepares to celebrate 300 years of worship
Middlesex County has a long history dating back hundreds of years. Lower United Methodist Church in Hartfield holds a significant place in that history. In the mid-1600s a wooden chapel was built on the land where the current brick church is now located. The brick chapel was built in 1717 and is still used for worship to this day.
A task force has been put into place to begin the process of celebrating the 300th anniversary of worship at Lower Church on October 21-22. Anyone interested in being a part of this important celebration may contact the church office at 804-776-6250 or by email at .
