Lower Church car show to benefit first-responders

Lower United Methodist Church is planning a weekend of events to benefit Middlesex County volunteer fire and rescue squad departments. On Saturday, April 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be the 2nd Annual Classic Car Show on the church property at 120 Lower Church Road in Hartfield.

This will be an exciting day for antique car enthusiasts. Last year there were more than 75 cars that participated in the event. Not only will antique cars be on display but members of Middlesex fire and rescue squads will have various pieces of equipment for review.

This year, the proceeds from the event will go to these volunteer organizations as a thank-you for the unselfish commitment and contribution they make to the community.

Food will be offered for sale by the United Methodist Men, and ice cream provided by the Missions Committee will be distributed by the Cub Scout Troop that is sponsored by LUMC. Music will be provided by Wayne Jessie. There will be a 50-50 raffle plus door prizes provided by local businesses. “Please come join us for this fun-filled family activity,” said an event spokesperson.

On Sunday, April 15, the church again invites the public to attend its worship service at 10:30 a.m. when it will honor volunteers at the First Responders’ Appreciation Day. A reception for all will follow in the fellowship hall.
