image

Twenty-one members and guests of the Just Older Youth (Joy) Club of Harmony Grove Baptist Church recently went to the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond to enjoy Christmas tea.

Members included president Faye Carroll, Dorothy Hilbush, Brenda Maul, Joan Curtis, Betty K. Kennon, Helen Williams, Nancy Morton, Linda Crump, Sonja Shy, Carolyn Major, Mae Shelton, Becky Sibley, Lorraine Rainier and Pastor Collier. Guests included Sarah Collier, Leigh Ann Weinstein and son Carter, Becky Miller, Bob Crump, Juanita Rew, Faye Crockett and Barbara Smith. The group enjoyed the varieties of tea, sandwiches, desserts and scones.

After tea, the group traveled to Willow Lawn to shop for Angel Tree gifts and, as darkness came, traveled back down Monument Avenue to see the lights and Christmas tree at the State Capitol. The group then went to the James Center to see the lights.

The Joy Club meets on the second Thursday of each month at noon and members bring a bag lunch. The club invites prospective new members to attend.
