Higgins is BGAV Ministerial Educational Funds recipient
The Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV) is proud to announce that Matthew Higgins, a member of Urbanna Baptist Church and student at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, is the recipient of BGAV Ministerial Educational Funds for the 2008-09 school year.
The BGAV awards these educational funds to Virginia Baptist students who have made a commitment to Christian vocational ministry, attend an accredited school, and meet all established requirements. Recipients are expected to work several hours weekly in a Baptist church or Baptist-related ministry, and they work under the guidance of a mentoring minister.
“We are proud of these students and pray for God’s guidance in each of their lives,” said John Upton, executive director of BGAV. “Virginia Baptists are committed to the development of emerging leaders for advancing the Redeemer’s Kingdom.”
The Baptist General Association of Virginia was established in 1823 to give Baptist churches in Virginia a means for cooperation to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and is made up of over 1,400 statewide member churches that facilitate the mission and ministry of BGAV through the Virginia Baptist Mission Board (VBMB), located in Richmond. More information on the mission and ministry of the organization can be found at http://www.vbmb.org.
