Help needed for heart transplant candidate

Zoar Baptist, Philippi Christian and Clarksbury Methodist churches are continuing fund-raising efforts for Missy Morris, a Middlesex County resident in need of a heart transplant. The churches have held several fund-raising events to offset the medical costs for the Morris family and more are planned.

The Lower Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department and Hartfield Fire Department also joined the effort recently by having a Donkey Baseball Game at Deltaville Ballpark with the proceeds going to the Morris family.

“She is a very brave young woman,” said Doaty Knapp, a member of Zoar Baptist Church. “Because we live in such a giving community, the churches of Zoar, Philippi and Clarksbury have worked and will continue to work to help this family in any way they can. Not only have the churches combined their efforts, so has the community has a whole.

“Chuck and Missy wanted to express their thanks for all the work and prayers that have been done on their behalf,” said Knapp. “We live in an amazing community of people who really care. We are hoping that in the near future Zoar Baptist Church will be sponsoring  a blood drive on Missy’s behalf.”

Donations to the fund drive can be sent to the Zoar Benevolence Fund, P.O. Box 1010, Deltaville, VA 23043.
