Harmony Grove Baptist Church called Dr. Barbara Filling as interim pastor on January 7. Dr. Filling grew up as a resident of Middlesex County and with her family a member of Harmony Grove and went on to graduate as valedictorian of the class of 1963 of Middlesex High School.

Earning a bachelor of science degree from Longwood College, she continued her education at Union Theological Seminary of Virginia in Richmond, obtaining her doctor of ministry degree. Dr. Filling was ordained by Kilmarnock Baptist Church in June of 1987 and has the honor of being the first ordained woman minister in the Rappahannock Association.

“Harmony Grove welcomes Dr. Barbara Filling as interim pastor and looks forward to working with her to further the kingdom of God in our community,” said a church spokesperson. “As we begin our Lenten services, we invite you to come and join us for worship service at 11 a.m. on Sundays or Bible Study on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m.”
