Hands Across Middlesex

by Cathy Newcomb

The May meeting for Hands Across Middlesex was held at Remlik Wesleyan Church. Many folks came out in the rain to participate. We were all grateful to the members of Wesleyan for hosting our important time together.

Although many business issues were discussed, our main focus was the development of our new site plan. We are so excited to think that the dream of a new facility is coming true. We look forward to being able to share space with other charitable organizations as well as having our own offices, Furniture Barn, Clothing Barn and Food Closet. With all these helping hands working together we will all be able to service the community more effectively.

Speaking of helping hands, volunteers are needed to do odd jobs around the house for people who have aged, or are ill. These folks used to be able to cut their bushes, clean their gutters, mow their grass and paint their shutters all by themselves. They cannot do these things anymore. The jobs still need to be done however. If you or your teenage youngsters, youth groups or clubs have a few hours to spare, please call our office.

Hands Across Middlesex is a nonprofit 501-C organization. Currently, we are located at Philippi Church in Deltaville. The phone number is 776-8535. Our address is P.O. Box 1299, Saluda VA 23149.

We meet on the third Sunday of every month at 3:30 p.m. Our June meeting will be at Saluda Baptist Church (Route 33). Our July meeting will be held at Glebe Landing Baptist Church (Route 17) at Laneview. The public is always welcome to attend.
