Habitat open house is set for March 22
|Habitat of Middlesex’s sixth home at 260 Apache Drive in Deltaville.|
by Greg Chambers
Habitat of Middlesex has completed its sixth home and will hold an open house and dedication ceremony on Saturday, March 22, from 1-4 p.m. The new house is at 260 Apache Drive in Deltaville and was built with the help and support of many, many volunteers and local businesses. We hope all our volunteers and donors can come and see the results of their efforts!
Habitat plans to sell this home to Evelyn West and family. Evelyn is a teacher’s aide at Middlesex Elementary School (MES) and has been helping build her own home, volunteering over 400 hours of “sweat equity” along with her family. Evelyn’s co-workers, the faculty of MES, have been there many Saturdays helping build. Evelyn will take out a 30-year, interest-free Habitat mortgage on this home and make payments to Habitat of Middlesex covering principal, insurance and county taxes. Principal repaid to Habitat will be used to build future homes, including our next house in Saluda on Raven Road!
Please join us on March 22 to celebrate the home dedication or take a brief tour. To get to the house at 260 Apache Drive in Deltaville, turn left onto North End Road (near Sunset Grille) and go .8 mile to a right turn onto Apache Drive. Go straight ahead about .5 mile until the road turns right. The house is the first on the right after the bend.
If you’d like to get involved in helping us build our next home in Saluda, please contact Greg Chambers at 804-832-9496, or send donations to Habitat for Humanity Middlesex, P.O. Box 492, Hartfield, VA 23071.
