Habitat for Humanity

Phil Jones tests the soil at a new Habitat building site.

by Lyle Predmore

Behind-the-scenes work continues for Habitat for Humanity Middlesex Inc. as plans are being made for the next “Habitat Build” in the county. This past week Phil Jones was on the building site to do a soil test. This is another necessary step in Habitat work—all the normal requirements to meet land use requirements and codes must be in place. Phil’s testing will determine the location and type of septic system needed.

Mr. Jones’ company, Soil Interpretation Inc., is a household name in the county to developers and planners as building sites are prepared.  Phil is also a familiar name to Habitat; he has volunteered his services for each Habitat house built in our community.

For further information or to volunteer services please contact HFH, P.O. Box 492, Hartfield VA 23071, or call Lyle Predmore at 776-7319.
