Habitat for Humanity

by Lyle Predmore

From left are Habitat volunteers Glenda Brooks, Robert Brooks, Martha Lowe and Lyle Predmore.
Habitat for Humanity Middlesex Inc. is fortunate to have volunteers that work with us in so many areas. The Deltaville law office of Robert Brooks and its Middlesex Title Company is one that makes services available to the Middlesex Habitat Affiliate. They help guide us through land purchases, legal implications and details of building, and finally the closing documents of a completed house.

Habitat has not been driving nails and painting walls since the completion and dedication of its previous house last October. Somehow it seems when we think “Habitat,” we automatically think of two by fours and 8-penny nails.

But in reality, Habitat is much more than boards and brads. It is also all the things that go into getting us ready for the hammers and hangers. It is much like any construction company, plus a development company, plus a bank, and a social agency rolled into one.  There is a lot of work that goes on that is just plain paper work and legal details.

Here in Middlesex County we are truly blessed to have those who work quietly behind the scenes, like Rob, Glenda and Martha from their Deltaville law office that keeps things moving toward our next affordable Habitat house.

For more information about Habitat for Humanity Middlesex Inc., the mailing address is Box 492, Hartfield 23071; or call Lyle Predmore at 776-7319.
