Evangelist Sheila Nicole Latimore preached her initial sermon on Sunday June 29, at the City of Refuge Church in Hartfield. Her message was titled “We Win.” The scriptural reference came from Matthew 16: 13-19.
Latimore is the daughter of Melody Latimore Christian, Charles A. Latimore I, and Vernon Christian. She is the granddaughter of Pastor Earlene Scott and the sister of Charles A. Latimore II. She is 23 and a 2003 graduate of Middlesex High School, where she was a member of FBLA and DECA, and was first vice president of the African American Club. She is currently a student at Thomas Nelson Community College.
Latimore has been involved in the church since an early age and was baptized and received salvation at the age of 9. Since childhood she has been involved in the music ministry. She has directed choirs for over 10 years. In 2006 Latimore was compelled to answer the God given “charge to preach.” During the initial sermon service she received the necessary items for ministry, including a Thompson Chain Reference Bible, embroidered towels, and a ministerial robe.
Latimore is currently a licensed evangelist in good standing under the Church of God In Christ Jesus Apostolic Inc. She is the youngest female to be a licensed evangelist in the county.
The church extends a special thank you to all who attended the service.
