The Episcopal Church Women (ECW) of Christ Church Parish have elected officers to serve in the coming year.

They are Ginger Smither, president; Jean Holt, vice president; Brenda Brizendine, recording secretary; Vel Gray, treasurer; and Bev Hart, corresponding secretary.

The newly-elected officers recently met with members of the Executive Board to discuss the group’s plans for the coming year.  Social Services Outreach chair Priscilla Johnson outlined plans to enhance the group’s activities in caring for parishioners and others who are ill, homebound or alone.

Other highlights of the meeting included discussions of spiritual activities, and fundraising, including the annual scholarships awarded to parish youth and participation in the twice-yearly ingathering of the United Thank Offering in which the women of the parish join with Episcopal women across the United States to express their gratitude for God’s blessings by combining their gifts to find projects that support many worthy projects.

All of the women of Christ Church Parish are members of the ECW and are welcomed to participate in the group’s activities. A Bible study led by Father Paul Andersen is held at 10 a.m. on the second Wednesday of each month in the Parish House.

Other activities include bake sales at the Oyster Festival and the Urbanna Farmers’ Market, as well as events that enhance the spiritual and social life of the parish.

The Winter General Meeting will be held on February 18 with a speaker from the Jackson-Feild Episcopal Home for Girls. Details on the meeting will be released in the near future.
