Dinner and auction to benefit mission of district youth choir
There will be a barbecue dinner and auction on Friday, June 6, to benefit the York River District Youth Choir (YRDYC), formerly known as the Rappahannock District Youth Choir (RDYC), at Lower United Methodist Church in Hartfield.
The choir and mission team, under the direction of Aaron Ward of Middlesex, will be headed to New Jersey Shore devastated by Super Storm Sandy for two weeks of mission work and concerts, and dinner proceeds will help finance this trip.
Dinner will be available from 5-6 p.m. at a cost of $8 for adults and $4 for children, and will be followed by a fun-filled evening at the auction.
Anyone interested in donating an item to the auction in support of the YRDYC should contact Lower United Methodist Church at 776-6250. Some of the items already on the auction block include a 32” TV, weed-eater, John Deere toy tractor, round of golf at Piankatank River Golf Club, quilt rack, limited edition prints, five-piece silver-plated tea set, nautical items, and much more.
The doors will open at 4:30 p.m. for the auction viewing.
