Deltaville churches to share Holy Week services

Zoar Baptist, Clarksbury United Methodist and Philippi Christian churches will offer various worship services to celebrate Holy Week.

On Thursday, April 1, Philippi will offer a Holy Thursday Remembrance of the Last Supper at 7 p.m., which will include a brief dramatic reading about the institution of the Lord’s Supper.

A Good Friday service will be offered at Zoar at 7:30 p.m. on April 2 with Pastor Eric Vaudt of Clarksbury preaching.

Philippi will be doing its annual Chain of Prayer event on Holy Saturday, April 3, during which members will be in the sanctuary praying for the full 24 hours. The public is invited to come and pray with them.

Finally, the three churches will join together for their Easter Sunrise Service on the beach near Stingray Point around 6:30 a.m. on April 4. Pastor Cook will preach and a three-church joint choir will sing.

All three churches will then have their own usual Easter Sunday worship services.

For Easter Sunday only, Philippi will offer only one service at 10 a.m. On April 11, the regular two-service schedule will resume.
