College student gives 14 inches to Locks of Love

Ashton Vaudt, full-time student at Shenandoah University, recently came home to Hardyville during his summer break and asked his mother, Peggy, to cut his hair.  This would be his first haircut in over two years. His mother happily complied with his request and sheared off his 14-inch locks.

That hair has since become a donation to Locks of Love, a non-profit organization based in West Palm Beach, Fla., that helps financially disadvantaged children throughout the U.S. and Canada suffering from long-term medical hair loss.

Ashton had two reasons for the haircut request: it was hot and he was using too much shampoo. Ashton is a member of Clarksbury United Methodist Church where his father is pastor.
