Christ Church plans Holy Week services
The Rev. Paul Andersen, rector of Christ Church Parish (Episcopal), has announced his church’s upcoming Holy Week services.
The week preceding the Feast of the Resurrection, “Holy Week,” is a period of fasting, penitence and prayer. Its solemn liturgies recall the final days of Jesus’ earthly ministry and prepare the faithful to more fully understand and embrace the joy of Easter Sunday.
Palm Sunday services on March 24 at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. will recall Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem along a pathway strewn with palm branches.
Maundy Thursday’s 6 p.m. liturgy on March 28 will recall the Last Supper and institution of the Holy Eucharist.
Good Friday’s 6 p.m. liturgy on March 29 will recall the crucifixion of Jesus and will include the traditional Stations of the Cross, Sung Solemn Collects, and Veneration of the Cross.
Easter Sunday’s “Service of the Resurrection” on March 31 will be at 10 a.m.
Christ Church (Episcopal) is at Routes 33 and 638 in Christchurch, adjacent to Christchurch School. For information, call 758-2006.
