Calvary to celebrate Black History Month
Calvary Baptist Church at Christchurch will honor President Barack Obama each Sunday in February at the 11 a.m. service “as this moment in history is truly a historical time not only for African-Americans, but all Americans,” said a church spokesperson.
On Sunday, Feb. 1, there will be a special presentation titled “The Life of President Obama” by church members. This Sunday is also Family and Friends Day at Calvary.
On the second Sunday, the youth of Calvary will present “Famous First” African-Americans and a play titled “Pearly Gates” by Curtis Beverley.
On the third Sunday, “Who is Michelle Obama?” will be the topic. Ladies are invited to wear pearls on this day in honor of our First Lady.
The fourth Sunday will be “President Obama Day.” Everyone is invited to wear Obama shirts, buttons, etc.
Black History month will close with light refreshments. All are invited.
