‘Blessing of the Animals’ service due

“The kids are really excited, so this year we think we might see a real zoo!” said Philippi Christian Church pastor Mike Cook.

Pastor Mike is talking about Philippi’s third annual “Blessing of the Animals” service this Sunday, October 5, at 6:30 p.m.

“We only ask that animals be safely restrained with dogs on leashes, cats in carriers, horses  with bridles and so on,” said Fay Leach, Philippi Worship Committee chairperson.

The service is in honor of St. Francis Day. “Francis loved creation and all the creatures in it, and saw it all as an expression of God’s love,” said Philippi associate pastor Lew McPherren, who will be presiding at the service along with Clarksbury’s new pastor, Eric Vaudt.

The community is invited.
