Annual VFW Memorial Day Service is Sunday
The annual VFW Post #9501 Memorial Day Service is set for Sunday, May 25, at 3 p.m. at the Caleb and Mary Pollard Family Veterans Memorial Park adjacent to the VFW Building on Route 30, four miles north of Route 360 at Central Garage in King William County.
This year’s primary speaker will be Hanover County resident Michael Duke, a retired Air Force Senior Master Sergeant who is currently the Human Resources Recruitment Specialist for Hanover Public Schools. There will also be two local youth speakers—VFW Post #9501 “Voice of Democracy” winner Hannah Cuya, a senior at King William High School, and “Patriot’s Pen” winner Sarah Baker, a 6th-grader at King and Queen Elementary School in King and Queen County.
An invocation and the benediction will be delivered by Rev. Kim Bullock, associate pastor at St. Paul Baptist Church in Aylett. VFW Post Commander Herbert Johnson will introduce special guests and make presentations along with the VFW Ladies Auxiliary President Frances Gwathmey and former VFW Post Commander Fred Brown.
The public is invited to all activities.
For more information, contact Percy Pollard, program chair at 804-769-2222. “This is our 16th year, and this year’s theme ‘Managing Transitions’ is in recognition of what we all must do as we travel life’s pathways,” said Pollard.
