‘Angel Food’ packages available through Saluda Baptist

Angel Food Ministries was founded in 1994 by Pastors Joe and Linda Wingo for local families in Monroe, Georgia, who were affected by the industrial plant closings at that time. The program now feeds over 500,000 families per month in 35 states.

The Angel Food program has established a main distribution site at Newington Baptist Church in Gloucester. The program’s Middlesex County coordinator is Deanie Brewer-Selph.

“A different menu is available each month,” according to the Angel Food Ministries website at AngelFoodMinistries.com.

“It (food package) consists of fresh, frozen and packaged food. Angel Food is purchased from the nation’s top food suppliers, providing quality, nutritious food at significant discounts. There are also special box options such as all meat or seafood, fruits and vegetables, senior meals, allergen-free and more. The price of each box is approximately half the price of what the same items would cost at the grocery store.”

Brewer-Selph noted there are no restrictions, applications or qualifications necessary to purchase Angel Food.

The delivery date for the food boxes is the third Saturday of each month and can be picked up from 9-9:30 a.m. at Saluda Baptist Church. For every box ordered through Saluda Baptist, the church gets $1 for the benevolent fund.

Orders will be taken at Saluda Baptist Church in the fellowship hall from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on the Thursday nine days prior to the delivery date each month. Payment must be made in cash at the time the order is placed.

For more information, call Brewer-Selph at 758-4720.
