LUMC annual stew sale set for Saturday
The Lower United Methodist Men will hold their annual Fall Brunswick Stew Sale on Saturday, December 3. This stew is slow cooked for six hours in cast-iron cauldrons using the “secret” recipe of the church’s world renown stewmaster, Rev. Jim “Great Time of Day!” Ritter.
11.30.2011Community Thanksgiving Dinner offered on Nov. 24
Six local churches will offer a Community Thanksgiving Dinner at no charge to all who may not have other plans on Thanksgiving day, November 24. The traditional turkey and ham dinner will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Kingston Parish House, 370 Main Street, Mathews Court House.

“The Journey” at Lower United Methodist Church incorporated hands-on activities to bring Biblical times to life. The Journey continues each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. through December 18. Everyone is invited to attend.

“As ‘eucharist’ is a Greek word for ‘thanksgiving,’ it is most appropriate to join in worship on Thanksgiving Day to offer thanks to God for the blessings of food, family and nation,” said Christ Church Rector Paul Andersen.
