Mathews man has first book published
Author Paul Stimson of Mathews had a fascinating career in engineering and oceanography. Despite the satisfaction he derived from his profession, he had a nagging desire to write what he calls “theology for the unreligious.”

Hands Across Middlesex meets on July 20; volunteers needed
Hands Across Middlesex will hold its monthly meeting on Sunday, July 20, at Grafton Baptist Church in Hartfield. The meeting will start at 3:30 p.m. and the public is invited to attend. “Hands meetings are dedicated to improving access to resources for our neighbors in need or crisis,” said spokesperson Dave Cryer.


Philippi Christian Church to begin book discussion group
“Millions of Christian women make their decisions regarding faith, family, and career based on popular conceptions of ‘Biblical womanhood,’ though few have considered the selectivity with which they apply gender-based Biblical instructions,” said writer Rachel Held Evans.


Spring Hill Baptist plans special activities
The title of the sermon to be given by Dr. Chuck McDaniel at the 11 a.m. worship on Sunday, July 13, at Spring Hill Baptist Church in Mathews will be “Compassion of the King” (Matt. 9:27-38).
